Pretty cool stuff. Many companies are now using Facebook it seems as another alternative to Google adwords getting more brand recognition. Unlike adwords, Facebook allows you to actually target specific groups of people who share interests, are of certain age groups, and other demographics of your choice.

Maurice lacroix is hoping to interact and engage with its consumers online, and launching its newest watch entirely through Facebook.

Leveraging on its official Facebook fan page, a targeted campaign "REINVENT THE WHEEL" was launched to tease the audience by seeding the consumer videos weekly and constantly engaging the fans.

Publicity efforts will countdown to the physical launch of the new watch at Baselworld 2010, an annual jewelry and watch trade show where brands display their products exclusively.

For its marketing efforts, Maurice Lacroix works in partnership with eYeka.

Maurice Lacroix an independent watchmaker with more than 200 employees worldwide, the majority of whom are based at its international head office in Zürich, Switzerland.

As a big fan of Maurice Lacroix Watches I am excited about this launch. New watches that appear a bit random. Let me explain. And although this is not all bad the company is walking a bit blindly hoping to strike that spark of consumer interest in their watches.

The Pontos Chronograph Rectangulaire All Black watch represents what I am talking about. Nothing in their line looks anything like this watch. Have you seen it? However, if you compare the dial to some of their previous work, it has similarities. So its not all a shot in the dark for them right now..

I like this brand. I am not a huge fan of jewelry or watches for that matter, but there is something about Maurice Lacroix Watches that I like. So for that reason I decided to make a blog based solely on the Maurice Lacroix Watch. But getting back to the Pontos watch. Its hard to tell how this new watch fits with some its current line. Or why they made them. It seems a bit out of place. Dont get me wrong this is a nice watch, but it doesn't seem to fit in my opinion.

Some watch manufacturers are gearing towards the fading black theme, where the watch is designed in various layers of black color. Maurice Lacroix is doing this as well, and I am a little confused by it.

Demands sometimes run high with certain characteristics of watches. Perhaps the Pontos is after that small watch segment of all black rectangular watches with classy looking dials? Who knows.

As I previously said I don't think there is anything wrong with the watch. I like the casing, which is quite fitting for this brand.

The movement is a base Swiss ETA 7750 automatic movement, which offers enough dials and areas on the face for the Maurice Lacroix Watch to mess with. The end result dial has some mixed textures and looks striking, but not all that pioneering.

There's supposed to be some fascinating hand engraving on the movement – which is showing through the sapphire case-back window at the back end of the watch.

For some people, this will be a highly sought-after watch with its mix of dark tones, classy appearance, and indisputable sport attitude (all black, rubber strap). Still, after thinking about this watch for a while, I still a little confused about what it all means, what emotions the brand wishes to impart in this product or how it helps the brand in the long term.

Feel like just another random work of watch art from the maybe too diverse brand. And while that works for other luxury watches, it might not work with a brand like Maurice Lacroix Watches.
